Byron Bay Wildlife Sanctuary
Knockrow · Activities & Tours
(1,930 reviews)
The café sits inside a wildlife sanctuary in the Knockrow hinterland, which tells you something about the crowd before you even look at the menu. Families with kids in tow, birdwatchers with binoculars around their necks, the occasional koala overhead. It's a working sanctuary first, café second, and the food reflects that priority: straightforward, unfussy, geared toward fuelling a morning of animal encounters rather than competing with the Main Street brunch scene. Expect the kind of menu that covers the basics well enough. The real draw is the setting, not the flat white. If you're making a day of it with children, factor in the café as part of the broader visit rather than a destination on its own.

Best coffee we've ever had. Great stop off if you're travelling through. There's a wide range of treats available and some fabulous foodie items instore to buy. The kiddos will love the toy selection. And if you need petrol it's just a short trip across to Tintenbar Store.
WOW 😍 what an amazing day! For the very affordable price of entry, you get all of the amazing talks and up close experiences included. I came for the kangaroos and this place did not disappoint! Was able to feed them, stroke them and even see a baby Joey up close! The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly and the cafe, gift shop and car park areas are all modern and clean. Overall this place is a MUST if visiting Byron. Thank you guys for an unforgettable experience x x x
Pretty good. Has a reptile display, goats to feed and some rabbits and Guinea pigs that have petting sessions. There is a decent outdoor playground, free mini golf and a small water park feature. Good for a couple of hours with the kids. Relatively pricey for the available attractions ($70+ for 2 kids and 1 adult).
Great stop for road trips and charging! Super nice cafe, store, chargers and facilities. I hope we have a chance to checkout the sanctuary on our next big trip.
Thank you for your response, when passing through next time we will definitely pop in as it is a favourite. And we have always had a great experience in the pass Pass reivew 13th dec Upon our arrival at 2:20 PM, during a coastal journey, we intended to charge our vehicle and have lunch. We were informed at the counter that the kitchen was closed and the register had been reconciled, preventing us from ordering food from the display. However, we were advised that beverages could be processed through an alternative register. Several other patrons were also present, seemingly inquiring about the kitchen's operational status. Our review of your website indicated a closing time of 4:00 PM. We recommend updating your cafe hours online to reflect current operational times.
