Friday Hut Road winds far enough inland that most visitors never bother, which is exactly the point. The Hut sits in Possum Creek, the kind of address that filters out the day-trippers and rewards the curious. Without a trail of reviews to lean on, what draws people here is harder to pin down precisely, but the setting alone, deep in the hinterland fold between Byron and Bangalow, does a lot of the work. Expect casual dining in the truest sense: no performance, no scene. This is the quieter Byron, the one that locals tend to keep to themselves. Worth the drive out to see what's on, and worth calling ahead before you make it.
Awesome experience at the Hut. To start you can enjoy the scenery while driving there, the place is surrounded by a beautiful valley. The hut is an old school that keeps its charm. Service is hectic as the restaurant is normally busy but all waiters know what they are doing and know good recommendations. Although anything can go wrong there, all dishes were fantastic. To start we tried the jamon croqueta, which was maybe the only disappointing bit, as we were expecting a bigger one for the snack price. With grilled octopus and focaccia, which we always try when we are here. The octopus is undoubtedly the beat I’ve tried in Australia. For seconds, we shared pasta, the best lamb ragu and with a very well cooked pasta, and to ensure our serve of veggies, Brussels with dukah and labneh, a brilliant combination, the Brussels were grilled and crunchy which combined with the smooth sauce. To finish, we couldn’t leave without trying homemade tiramisu, it had a strong punch of liquor but it was really balanced with the cream and cocoa. Don’t miss the place if you’re near there!
My friends and I had a beautiful long lunch at The Hut. The lobster pasta was the best pasta I’ve eaten in my life. The gorgonzola cheesecake was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable. I booked because of the high Google ratings and me expectations were exceeded. I could not speak more highly of this restaurant!

Byron Bay
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.
Byron Bay's best breakfast spots fill before 9am on weekends. From the legendary banana bread at Bayleaf to a terrace table above Wategos Beach at Raes, the morning food scene here is worth setting an alarm for. A local-edited guide to where to go, what to order, and when to show up.
Byron Bay mornings run on good coffee, long tables, and banana bread that actually earns the reputation. Autumn is the best time to do it: the crowds have thinned, the light is softer, and the town's best cafes have room to breathe. Here are ten worth your morning, from the coffee purists on Lawson Street to the hinterland quiet of Possum Creek.
An absolutely amazing performance, from arrival to the end. A fabulous and vivid international team that works like an apparently seamless mechanism, with an extraordinary talent for service. Flawless plates cooked and presented with care and obvious interest for excellence. Bravo! Felicidades! Obrigadão! ;)
Heard a lot about it and I finally got the chance to try it! Amazing venue! Super friendly staff. Was greeted and served by the amazing Dani, the whole staff made me feel welcomed and comfortable, the feeling that I had was that I was part of something bigger! Raw fish and oyster to start, followed by jamón crostini and bruschetta di vitelo. octopus as a mid-course and lamb as a main. But the crown goes to Zola Cheesecake with poached pear (just insane). Everything on point, chefs clearly know what they’re doing. Beautiful Amaro selection and stunning wine list. If you’re in Byron Shire make sure you have this experience.
Outstanding experience. From when you first enter the restaurant, to when you leave, the experience was a 10/10. The food was fresh, tasty and with a fantastic choice on the menu. The atmosphere was something that you rarely experience in restaurants today. The staff was attentive, helpful and you could tell they love what they do. Being Italian, I almost felt a little bit at home, with the friendly banter, beautiful original ingredients and outstanding location. Will definitely reccomend and go back. Grazie The Hut!
