Out on Bangalow Road, away from the flip-flop shuffle of town, The Roadhouse operates at a different pace. The format is casual, the price point is mid-range, and the crowd skews local rather than tourist. Without a deep well of reviews to draw from, it's hard to call a standout dish, but the positioning suggests straightforward, unfussy food done with some care. Think roadside diner energy with a Byron sensibility: good produce, relaxed service, no dress code required. It sits in that useful middle ground between a quick lunch and a proper sit-down, which makes it a reliable stop if you're heading in from Bangalow or out toward the hinterland. Worth checking their current menu before you make a special trip.
Came here for dinner on a one night trip, food and cocktails were delicious! Better than a lot of food I’ve had at hatted restaurants, unique flavours that worked so well, everything was 10/10. Service was also spectacular, better than any service we’ve had in Sydney. We loved it so much we came back for breakfast the next morning and were equally impressed with the delicious breakfast options and unique coffee brews. Pancakes were insanely good!! If you are visiting Byron you have to come here!!!
We visited The Roadhouse in Byron Bay, and from the moment we arrived, Chef Pedro and Mel, made us feel so at home. They went out of their way to accommodate us, even letting our little pet Luna come in with us, which was very kind. The food was just amazing. Fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. There's a real focus on quality ingredients and simplicity done to perfection. It was such a good experience that we had to go back the next morning for breakfast. As a coffee lover, I can honestly say their coffee is the best in town. Rich, smooth, and made with real care. The atmosphere is warm, rustic, and relaxed, the perfect Byron Bay vibe. If you’re looking for great food, exceptional coffee, and genuine hospitality (plus a pet-friendly touch!), The Roadhouse is an absolute must. Thanks again, Chef Pedro and Mel. We’ll definitely be back!

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.

Byron Bay mornings run on good coffee, long tables, and banana bread that actually earns the reputation. Autumn is the best time to do it: the crowds have thinned, the light is softer, and the town's best cafes have room to breathe. Here are ten worth your morning, from the coffee purists on Lawson Street to the hinterland quiet of Possum Creek.

I absolutely love the food at Roundhouse. I’ve been going there for a few years now, and I can honestly say that over the past year the restaurant has improved so much — the vibe, the team, and especially the food. As a local who’s tried many restaurants around the area, I can confidently say the food at Roundhouse truly stands out. The fish and the meat are incredible — full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and consistently impressive. Honestly, every dish I’ve tried has been delicious. You can really taste the dedication, care, and attention that goes into the preparation and into building those amazing flavours. And the cocktails are amazing too — beautifully made and the perfect complement to the food. They also make my absolute favourite pizza. On top of that, the events they’ve been hosting lately are really lovely and add so much to the atmosphere, making the place feel even more vibrant and welcoming. I’m so happy to have Roundhouse close to home — I often stop by even just for a coffee, and they also have my favourite golden milk. Amazing food, great cocktails, wonderful events, and a fantastic local spot. Highly recommend!
We ordered a dirty chai, chai latte, and an almond croissant. Everything was delicious, but the croissant took quite a while to arrive. My friend's already finished her chai by then, that's not ideal. Still, it's a perfect place to enjoy the sun!
Having liked the look of the Roadside as I drove by, I decided to drop in for brunch one sunny morning, and I’m pleased I did. It’s a popular spot, but I was fortunate to find parking and an outside table where I could sit with my dog on the ground next to me. The outdoor area is relaxed and peaceful, so it’s easy to forget its roadside location. Staff were friendly and efficient. The wait time for my order was next to nothing. My flat white was strong, flavoursome and artistically presented. For my meal, I chose the eggs, poached, with sides of mushrooms and a hash brown. That was tasty, although the eggs had been poached for a little longer than I would have liked, and were rather on the small side. I guess finding any eggs can be a challenge these days. Overall, a relaxing and enjoyable meal away from the city centre.
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.
