Fairy Pools
Noo Heads QLD · Activities & Tours

The track down is unmarked, a little slippery, and exactly the point. Fairy Pools sits off the main Noosa Coastal Walk, roughly an hour from Main Beach, tucked below the headland where natural rock pools meet the open ocean. The water is clear enough to watch baby fish dart around your feet. Entry is free. The trade-off is the climb down, rocky and uneven enough that anyone with mobility concerns should factor that in before committing. Crowds arrive mid-morning and the pools fill fast in summer. The local rule is simple: get there at sunrise. The Instagram contingent rarely makes it before 9am, and the difference in atmosphere is significant. One review flags that the area is sometimes roped off, so conditions can change. Check before you commit to the full walk.

What People Say
Pure Magic (If You Beat the Crowds!) If you are heading to Noosa, the Fairy Pools are an absolute must-see—but you need to time it right. It’s a beautiful trek along the Coastal Walk starting from Main Beach. Expect about a 1-hour walk to get there. The scenery along the way is stunning, and the best part? It’s completely free, which is a rare find in such a touristy area. Go early in the morning. If you wait too long, the "Instagram crowd" arrives in full force. Once the influencer-wannabes take over, the tranquil atmosphere disappears and it starts feeling more like a crowded public swimming pool than a hidden natural wonder. If you want that serene, "nature-only" vibe, aim to be there shortly after sunrise. Despite the potential for crowds, it’s a beautiful spot to cool off in the natural rock pools. The water is crystal clear, and the contrast between the rocks and the ocean is breathtaking.
Requires bit of a hike down from main trail. Went in mid-Dec, pool was pretty warm, getting into the pool could be a bit slippery. Cool to see the baby fishes up close, worth it
Amazing. The views were amazing and swimming in the pools was so idyllic. It can get quite busy but it is still worth it especially after the walk to get here. It is of the main pathway so keep an eye out for the small track of the side of the path. If you have trouble with mobility and struggle on uneven terrain you may not be able to get to them.
Fairy pools is roped off with no advertising along the costal walk for this area. I guess the powers that be feel it's not safe. It is quite a rocky climb and I wouldn't attempt it. The scenery around the area and on the costal walk was amazing with lots of whales and dolphins sighted.
Very sketchy way down to the actual pools. Once there it’s stunning and absolutely worth it though. I could take a swim in one of the fairy pools and enjoy the beautiful view. The bush walk within the natural park is breathtaking. Must see
