Chip 'n' Mix
Noo Heads QLD · Restaurants & Cafes
(204 reviews)
The concept is genuinely novel: choose your chips, load them with toppings, mix and match to your appetite. Chip 'n' Mix sits on Hastings Street in Noosa Heads and leans hard into the build-your-own format, with the Birria sauce drawing repeated mentions from those who lean into the bolder combinations. The vibe is casual and the location is convenient if you're coming off the beach. Where it gets complicated is value. Reviews consistently flag the price, with two people regularly spending $50 to $65 for what amounts to a chip bowl. The chips come out fresh and crispy, but toppings have been hit and miss depending on the day. Staff get a warm mention. Worth trying once for the novelty, particularly with kids or a group, but go in with calibrated expectations on portion size.

What People Say
The concept is really interesting and it’s the first I’ve seen like this in terms of a main dish. The idea of choosing your own ingredients and portions is great. I enjoyed the Birria sauce very much. This place is on the pricier side, we ended up spending around $50 for 2 people. I wasn’t that full afterwards, whereas you could spend $40 at a place like Guzman y Gomez and be stuffed with all the loaded chip bowls you can get with the same price with the same quality ingredients. I’d recommend for the experience.
Still not sure what the hype is about. The idea is fun in theory — load up your own chips with whatever toppings you like — but it ends up feeling like you’re overpaying for doing the work yourself. The chips are fine, the toppings are fine, but nothing really stands out to justify the price. If you’re curious, it’s worth trying once, but it didn’t quite live up to the buzz.
Great Concept but the quality did not match the price at all. Below each was $32 amounting to $64 for two people! I may as well go get a loaded fries for $15 and 2 iced matchas for the same quality for a lower price. Overal lovely idea but the price for what it is, is not worth it.
I tried Chip ‘n’ Mix in Noosa because the idea of building my own loaded chips sounded fun and different. I liked that there were lots of toppings to choose from, and it was easy to mix and match whatever I felt like. The chips themselves were good — fresh and crispy — but some of the toppings didn’t taste as fresh as I’d hoped, and a few combinations didn’t really work that well together. It’s definitely easy to go overboard and end up paying more than you expect for what’s basically just chips and toppings. The place has a nice casual vibe and it’s in a good spot if you want something quick near the beach, but there was a bit of a wait when I went, even though it’s meant to be self-serve. Overall, it’s a fun idea to try once, especially if you’re with friends or kids, but I probably wouldn’t rush back. Worth it for the novelty, but not the best value for money in Noosa.
We had such a fun experience at Chip n Mix in Noosa! Being able to choose three different types of chips and customise them with your own toppings was such a great concept, and there was so much choice available. The food was incredibly fresh and everything tasted amazing. A special shoutout to the staff — there was a lovely gentleman who was so friendly and more than happy to answer all of our questions, which made the experience even better. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable, and we honestly wish we were staying longer so we could come back again. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Rickys River Bar & Restaurant
Noo Heads QLD
Sunset over the Noosa River, oysters with pickled ginger vinaigrette, and a crab spaghetti that reviewers keep coming back for. Ricky's is the kind of place you book for a birthday and end up recommending to your parents the next morning. Worth every dollar, especially at 4.30pm.

United Petroleum Doonan (Pie Face)
Doonan
A servo stop on the Eumundi-Noosa Road with enough pumps to keep queues short and a Pie Face counter for a quick hot bite. Useful when you need fuel and something to eat between the hinterland and the highway. Treat it as convenience, not a destination.

Clandestino Coffee
Nooville QLD
A Noosa-roasting operation with four grinders running and staff who actually know what's in the hopper. The Magneto Organic Blend with iced milk is the move, but the Summer Breakfast waffle with mango and vanilla mascarpone gives it a run. Busy at noon. Worth it.

Betty's Burgers
Noo Heads QLD
The Classic Betty Burger holds its own even in peak January crowds on Hastings Street. Fresh buns, juicy patties, quick service, and ice-cream combinations to finish. Affordable by Noosa standards, reliable by any measure.
