The manager once took a pre-order via message so a group arriving late off the ferry would find their food ready on the table. That kind of thinking is baked into how this open-air café operates. Tucked just off the main Hastings Street strip in a casual canteen-style space, Hard Coffee draws a relaxed Noosa crowd for avo smash with lemon oil, eggs royal with avocado, and toasted sandwiches that reviewers consistently describe as fresh and generously filled. The coffee is solid. Prices sit at the moderate end without pushing into the painful. Kitchen closes at 2pm sharp, so plan accordingly. Service is generally warm, though experiences vary depending on who's on the floor. The food holds up regardless.

What People Say
I wanted to leave a huge shout out to the manager of this establishment, Remy. Before arriving, I contacted the café to ask what time the kitchen was closing. Remy let me know it was 2pm. Unfortunately, our ferry wasn’t due to arrive until about 10 minutes after 2. When I explained this, she went above and beyond. She sent me the menu and kindly offered to take our order in advance so it would be ready when we arrived. That level of customer service is rare and so appreciated. We ordered a toasted chicken breast sandwich, a toasted turkey sandwich, and a bowl of chips. Everything was fresh, generously filled and absolutely delicious. The bread was perfectly toasted, the fillings were flavourful and well balanced, and the chips were hot and crispy, exactly what we needed after the ferry ride. When we arrived, our food was ready as promised and the whole experience was seamless. Remy’s communication, flexibility and genuine willingness to help made our visit exceptional. Thank you for making the effort to accommodate us. We will definitely be back next time we are in Noosa.
Hard Coffee is a hidden little café just off the main stretch of Hastings Street — open-air and easy to miss if you’re not looking. I had the avo smash with lemon oil, which was tasty, fresh, and surprisingly filling. The coffee was solid too. Service could use a lift though — a smile or friendly greeting would go a long way in making the experience more welcoming. Worth a visit for the food, but don’t expect warm hospitality.
A cafe in a sort of canteen area. Nice casual place, not too boomer. Food was lovely, we had bacon and egg Turkish. Bread was soft and crispy, didn’t drown in sauce. But is it really “hard” coffee?🧐
Friendly and welcoming service. Had a flat white and eggs royal with avocado and was very nice and well presented. Worth noting that the kitchen closes at 1400.
This review is mainly about the service. The young male staff member (long brown curly hair) had quite an attitude during my visit. He tried to serve a hot chocolate behind my back without saying anything, and I almost bumped into him. I apologised immediately, but honestly — who serves a hot drink from behind someone without a word? He didn’t respond, looked visibly unhappy, and placed the cup and cookie plate down quite hard on the table. Later, when he brought our food, he did the same thing again — putting the plates down roughly and giving me a look like I had done something wrong. It made the experience quite uncomfortable. The food itself was good, and the hot chocolate was perfect. The lady at the counter was lovely and polite. It’s just unfortunate that one staff member’s attitude spoiled what could have been a really nice visit.

Moonstruck Noosa
Noo Heads QLD
Queues form before sunrise on Hastings Street for a reason. The Bánh Mì Pork Belly Bagel has made converts of passing tourists, the coffee is textbook consistent, and the Dutch owner has a habit of pulling up a chair. Mornings for brunch, afternoons for gin and share plates.

The Coolum Social
Coolum Beach
A Coolum Beach café where the big breakfast earns its reputation and the staff actually mean it when they greet you. Locally sourced menu, strong coffee, and gluten-free options handled properly. The fish tacos are worth ordering.

The Doonan
Doonan
A hinterland pub with two full-time gardeners, mist fans in summer, and a kitchen that takes its food seriously. Pizzas and mains from quality ingredients, a kids' playground that actually works, and gardens worth the drive from Noosa on their own.

Bang Bang Noosa
Noo Heads QLD
People queue before noon. The garlic chive miang and sticky pork belly are the reasons. Share plates, serious cocktails, and a feed-me banquet that earns its price. Book Thursday through Saturday well in advance or you won't get in.
