Known for banana bread with candied pecans that borders on legendary. Bayleaf partners with Gold Coast roaster Blackboard for ethically sourced coffee, and the brunch menu rotates seasonally. Grab a spot on the terrace early — this place fills by 8am on weekends.
I’ve been here twice now (for breakfast) and it hasn’t disappointed. The menu has fresh takes on classic dishes as well as unique items too. The food is just divine, using fresh ingredients, herbs and spices. The drinks specials are great too - you can also add boosters to them. I really really recommend getting the Souk Sunrise and the Banoffee Coffee. To top it off, the service from their super friendly staff was faultless!!
A must try cafe when in Byron bay! Staff are lovely, and very good at what they do. I got the scrambled eggs which were amazing. So tasty and full of flavour. Partner got the banana bread which was some of the best we’ve had in ages. The team in kitchen sure know what they are doing here 👏
A really chilled, easygoing spot. The atmosphere is laid‑back and welcoming, and you feel comfortable right away. Brunch is great, the coffee is excellent, and the banana bread is a definite highlight. Service is friendly and relaxed, perfectly matching the vibe. A place you’re happy to come back to.

Byron Bay
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.
Byron Bay's best breakfast spots fill before 9am on weekends. From the legendary banana bread at Bayleaf to a terrace table above Wategos Beach at Raes, the morning food scene here is worth setting an alarm for. A local-edited guide to where to go, what to order, and when to show up.
Byron Bay mornings run on good coffee, long tables, and banana bread that actually earns the reputation. Autumn is the best time to do it: the crowds have thinned, the light is softer, and the town's best cafes have room to breathe. Here are ten worth your morning, from the coffee purists on Lawson Street to the hinterland quiet of Possum Creek.
A well-known local café with some dishes that include a touch of Japanese fusion. It’s a popular spot and the atmosphere is very chill, with friendly and welcoming staff. The food is delicious, and the coffee has a bright, acidic profile that coffee lovers shouldn’t miss.
Get there early; the place fills up fast! Lovely cafe located in one of the main streets of Byron Bay. Dog and family friendly. The staff is, as well, but you may need to be patient with the new ones. I asked for a V60 coffee and the waitress had no clue what I was talking about; she did ask another member of staff about it and I had it sorted. It was delicious. The food was also good, although because of all the traffic the place receives, orders do take their time.
