Lawson Street is not where you expect to find a room that takes itself seriously, which is part of what makes Beach work. This is Byron's fine dining end of the dial, a place that earns its price point through considered cooking rather than spectacle. The menu leans into the region's produce, and at this price level you should expect that to show on the plate. The room suits a long dinner, the kind where you order the wine list properly and let the evening go where it goes. No reviews yet to triangulate against, so take the category and price point as your guide. Book ahead, dress with some intention, and come with an appetite rather than a schedule.
The food was absolutely superb – fresh, full of flavour, and clearly prepared with care. Every dish felt thoughtful and well-balanced. The service was just as impressive: warm, professional, and attentive without being overbearing. Unfortunately the weather was wild and the strong winds meant we couldn’t enjoy the usual ocean views, the experience was still fantastic. While it would’ve been ideal to enjoy the view, the quality of the food and service more than made up for it. I’ll definitely be back on a sunnier day – but honestly, it’s worth a visit no matter the weather.
Where do I even begin? From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Our waitress was exceptional -attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely lovely. She took the time to walk us through every dish in detail and made the entire experience feel effortless. The restaurant was incredibly accommodating of my dietary requirements. Our waitress was truly a godsend; she even helped us secure another reservation later in the week, ensuring we’d have a beautiful table closer to the water. The food itself was simply outstanding - without question, some of the best dishes I’ve had in a very long time. My husband and I dine out frequently, so this is high praise. Both dinner visits and our lunch were unforgettable, and we’re already looking forward to returning the next time we’re in Byron. Much love and Happy New Year

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.

Byron Bay
Byron Bay Beach really does live up to the hype. The sand is soft, the water is clear, and the whole place has that relaxed coastal energy that makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. It’s great for a morning walk, a swim, or just sitting and watching the waves roll in. You’ll usually see surfers out there, families enjoying the water, and people just soaking up the sun. Even when it’s busy, it still feels calm in its own way. Sunrise here is something special. The colours over the water and the fresh ocean breeze make it worth waking up early for. Definitely one of those beaches you keep thinking about after you leave.
It was such a delight to celebrate my birthday here. The location is truly hard to beat – tucked away at the quiet end of beautiful Clarkes Beach, wonderfully removed from the noise of the town. All of the dishes we ordered were delicious, mine was - the yellowfin tuna crudo for entrée, the grilled fish for main, and my favourite- Kensington Pride mango dessert with lemon, macadamia and smoked honeycomb – it was so good I was tempted to order a second one! The staff were all very professional, warm and friendly. Overall, it was a memorable birthday evening with amazing food and gorgeous scenery. I’m already looking forward to coming back.
Had a lovely evening with the extended family here. Absolutely beautiful setting, I can see why some folks have their wedding proposals and receptions here. Service was on point as you would expect for a fine dining restaurant. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our only feedback would be the portion sizes. Some of the mains were perfect size, but some left our guests underwhelmed. Specifically the Spaghetti & King Prawns (only 2 prawns) and Smoked Pork Hock Ravioli (only 3 squares). My dishes (barbecued octopus and grilled fish) were both excellent however, flavours were great and portions were spot on. If I was to come again I would come during the day or early evening to take in the views for longer, and wouldn’t bring adult teenagers.
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.
