Tacos at the budget end of Byron St, where the price level stays honest even when everything around it doesn't. Chihuahua Taqueria keeps things simple: Mexican street food, fast and affordable, in a town that can make you wince at a lunch bill. The Byron St address puts you close to the centre of town without the main strip markup. Expect the kind of casual, counter-service setup that suits a post-beach feed or a quick dinner before the night moves elsewhere. No reviews to draw on yet, so go in with open eyes, but the format and price point fill a real gap in a town where a bowl of chips can cost you fifteen dollars. Worth a visit if you're watching the wallet.
Chihuahua Taqueria is one of our favourite spots in Byron Bay! Located in at Habitat in Byron’s Arts & Industrial Estate, this little taco bar is all about fresh, vibrant, flavour packed Mexican eats made with quality ingredients and a “simple, fast, delicious” philosophy. They’re open daily from 11am to 8pm, and no matter what time we visit, the food is always consistently amazing. We absolutely love the tacos here! They’re some of the best in Byron. Our favourites are the Pescado, Pollo, and the Salt & Pepper Calamari, and we’ve even tried some of the specials which have always been delicious. Make sure to get a Margarita, the Mexico City Fries and the Corn on the Cob too… seriously SO good! Everything is super fresh, generous, and amazing value for money. The staff are really lovely, and despite how busy it gets (because everyone knows how good it is!), the vibe is always relaxed and welcoming. We’ve noticed tables fill up fast, so it’s definitely worth booking ahead, especially if you’re coming with family or a group. Highly recommend Chihuahua:) Such a fun atmosphere, incredible tacos, and consistently great food every time we visit!
After a wonderful and vigourous walk to Byron Bay Lighthouse from the Town Centre and back, it was time to re-enegise with some dinner. I have to admit the Happy Hour Sign outside Chihuahua Taqueria attracted me like moths to a flame. The corn meal, tacos and margarita was exactly what I was looking for, to replenish the calories I burnt during my walk to the Lighthouse. All served with a smile, friendly and courteous service from the staff.

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.

Byron Bay
Byron Bay's plant-based food scene runs deeper than smoothie bowls and good intentions. From the açaí-forward breakfast crowd at Combi on Fletcher Street to the organic kitchen at Gaia Retreat in the hinterland, this guide cuts through the noise and tells you exactly where to eat, what to order, and which spots are worth the drive.
Autumn is the right season for a Byron girls' trip, and the itinerary is simpler than the group chat suggests. Book the Wategos dinner table first, sort the villa second, and let the rest follow. Here is the weekend, planned properly.
Byron Bay in autumn is the right time for a genuine wellness week: fewer crowds, better light, and a hinterland cool enough to make morning yoga worth getting up for. This seven-day itinerary structures the week around how the body actually resets, from ocean kayaking and hinterland spa days to a dawn balloon flight over the Tweed Valley. Real days, real recommendations, real order.
Byron will eat your budget alive if you let it. But the bones of a genuinely cheap trip are still here. The lighthouse walk is free and worth waking up for. The tacos on Byron Street are the most honest meal in town. Here is what to do, where to eat, and what to skip entirely.
Byron Bay's food scene runs from working farms in Ewingsdale to fine dining above the sand at Wategos Beach. Here are the ten restaurants earning their place right now, ranked by quality, consistency, and the one detail that makes each worth the trip.
We just had lunch here and it was fantastic! The food was so fresh! Generous serving sizes! I got nachos with the beef brisket, which had so much brisket in it! Most places give half the amount of beef I got in this meal. Both the pescado and pollo tacos were delicious! My fiancé had the quesadilla which was a generous serving and delicious as well!
Top restaurant to eat in Byron Bay. Everything is fresh, the meat comes from local farms, and the portions are generous. Excellent value for money. Friendly service. You should try the quesadilla and the cerdo taco.
One of the top mexican restaurants we've ate. Tasty food, generous portions. Friendly staff! Would recommend this place.
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.
