A neighbourhood staple on the Bangalow Road corridor, just far enough from the town centre to feel like the locals' end of Byron. The Byron Bay General Store runs as a casual all-day spot, the kind of place where you can grab a coffee without fighting for a table with someone who just arrived from the airport. Expect relaxed counter service, straightforward food, and prices that reflect the mid-range without the inflated beachfront premium. The Bangalow Road location means it draws a mix of residents, tradies on a break, and visitors who've figured out that the best meals in Byron rarely happen on Jonson Street. No reviews to draw on yet, so go in with an open mind and report back.
Would have been a 5 star if based off food alone but the tables are filthy and they aren't cleaned after people leave which is a pity. The food itself is delicious, I had the mushroom breakfast and it was so fresh and delicious, beautifully made. The coffee wasn't bad either, maybe a little too milky for me but good. Overall a good cafe.
Visited Byron Bay General Store around 12 PM and there were still plenty of tables to choose from. Not too crowded, which made it a really relaxing lunch spot. The food was delicious and beautifully presented! I also tried their mushroom latte and added a shot of coffee, it tasted superb! ☕🍄 It was my first time trying it, and it’s definitely something I’d order again. Great vibes, friendly service, and tasty food. Will absolutely come back again! 💛
Super wholesome cafe - delicious food, great tasting coffee (try the Bulletproof for a proper kick-start!), and good portion sizes for Byron prices. Bit noisy with all the cars going past but it’s a mild inconvenience for the nice cafe experience.

Byron Bay
Tucked into Jonson Lane, away from the main-street circus, Bang Bang keeps things casual and affordable. The kind of spot that rewards locals who know their way around the back streets of Byron.

Byron Bay
Corner of Jonson Street, Folk is the kind of all-day café that earns its place through good bones rather than spectacle. Warm timbers, honest café fare, mid-range pricing, and a front-row seat to Byron's main strip.

Wategos Beach
Directly above the sand at Wategos Beach, Raes Dining Room is Byron's most location-loaded fine dining address. Mediterranean-leaning seafood, full-occasion pricing, and a room that makes the most of one of the coast's prettiest coves. Book the terrace.
The breakfast is so delicious and fresh. The irony is that the food choice is so enticing that you are tempted (and actually) eat much more than you should. The açaí bowl is not too sweet and full of great fruit and seeds. The banana bread is to die for. There is some kind of vegan cupcake with a date frosting that is so good, it can’t possibly be healthy. But is seems it is. Overall, we highly recommend.
A staple cafe in Byron. Situated slightly out of the rush of town, it’s got a great atmosphere, great food, excellent staff, and reasonable prices. My absolute favourite is the Hinterland mushrooms with 2 fried eggs. Can’t recommend this enough, it is seriously a taste sensation!
