Two years running as QHA Best Sporting Entertainment venue, the Burleigh Town Hotel's sports bar is the main event. Multiple screens, UFC nights, and a beer garden big enough to actually breathe in. The bistro covers all the pub standards: share plates, pizza, mains, a kids' menu, and weekly specials worth knowing about, particularly the $25 steak burger and schooner deal. The gelato cone at the end gets more love in reviews than most of the mains. Service can be stretched thin on busy nights, and pacing of meals is inconsistent, so order simply if you're in a hurry. Come for the footy, the Friday raffles, and a cold drink in the undercover outdoor area. The food is honest pub fare at fair prices, nothing more.
Wasn’t overly impressed when they brought out food, they brought our table of 3 food out at random times and garlic bread entrees at the end? Also was terrible outside as smokers were standing right by the tables near entrance smoking. Great food if you get the weekly specials. $25 steak burger and schooner. Overall great but some small inconveniences
Great family-friendly pub with something for everyone. The food is consistently good, the venue is spacious and well maintained, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. The beer garden and playground make it a great spot for families, and the Sunday petting zoo is a fantastic bonus for the kids. The little ones absolutely loved getting up close to the animals while we enjoyed a relaxed lunch. Plenty of seating, friendly staff and a great community feel. Highly recommend for families looking for an easy and enjoyable day out.
Handy pub close to high way & surrounding areas. Large free car park for patrons. Nice feel to pub with undercover outdoor area, verandah area & inside, all with large TV screens. Can order at table or bar. Menu is extensive - share, specials, kids, pizza, mains & deserts. Full pub bar. Prices were fair. Meals came out not as we had ordered or expected unfortunately, kids meal & 1 'entree size calamari main', then a delay for the next 2 mains & 2 sides (were meant to come with the calamari). When I chased up the 2 sides delivery, was made to feel any confusion was my fault (unsure why you would order 2 sides of vegetables & mash when both mains came with veges). The food itself was fine & large portion sizes. Overall & ok experience.

Currumbin Valley
A Currumbin Valley cafe with country-road ease and city-level coffee. The carrot cake is legendary for its size, the steak sandwich on sourdough earns genuine repeat visits, and the dessert counter will slow you down. Portions are generous, prices are fair, weekends are busy.

Currumbin Valley
Tortoises in the creek, coffee trees at the entrance, and a plant-forward menu sourced from local organic growers. The Earth Buckwheat Wrap is the thing to order. Sit outside, watch the water, and let the valley do its work.

Burleigh Heads has the best food scene on the southern Gold Coast, and it has been quietly earning that reputation for years. From the pastry cabinet at Tarte to cold beers at the Esplanade pub, here is a local's guide to where to eat in Burleigh Heads, broken down by the time of day.
The Gold Coast doesn't have to be expensive. From free swimming holes in Currumbin Valley to pub lunches that won't embarrass you, the southern stretch of the coast is one of Queensland's better-value destinations when you know where to go. Here's how to spend under $100 a day and not feel like you're missing anything.
The humidity breaks in late March and the Gold Coast hinterland becomes a different place entirely. Cooler air, lush post-summer green, and trails that are actually enjoyable. This is the season for longer walks, outdoor lunches that last into the afternoon, and harvest-fresh produce at the farm gate. Here is how to make the most of it, and why you need to book early if Easter is on your radar.
Your outdoor plans got rained out. In the Gold Coast Hinterland, that is not a problem. Waterfalls swell, mist rolls through the canopy, and the roads empty. Here is a flexible menu of what to do instead: day spas, salt caves, wildlife parks, valley cafés, and the pubs that earn their wet-weather crowds.
Went for lunch with a group of four on a Saturday. It was busy but had a good atmosphere and wasn’t too noisy considering how many people were there. Service was quick, though the staff came across a little impatient when ordering. The food was pretty average and quite overpriced for what we got. The kransky hotdogs were on the specials menu — they were ok but not worth $25 each. We also tried the prawn and bug roll, but the seafood was so bland we couldn’t tell what was prawn or bug, and the calamari and chips were cold and didn’t even resemble calamari — honestly one of the worst we’ve had. Overall, there are definitely better places around for a decent pub meal, but if you just want a drink with friends in a lively setting, it’s a good spot. The gelato ice cream on a cone afterwards was delicious though — definitely worth it! The only downside was walking through the pokies area to the dining room, which had a strong smell of cleaning products mixed with bad men’s cologne — not very pleasant. We also purchased tickets in the seafood raffle. The winning ticket wasn’t called out over the PA as expected and was instead given directly to a man sitting nearby. When we asked staff how they knew he had the winning ticket and why it wasn’t announced publicly, their explanation was vague and evasive. Very disappointing—would expect transparency and fairness in a public raffle.
Great vibe very busy overall very good for locals and very good value for money. Chicken Caesar salad was probably one of the best I ever had crunchy lettuces tasty dressing good portion size. We also ordered the rib steak it was really average just didn’t taste right. Nothing to do with the chefs as presentation was good and cooking temperature was perfect (medium). Staff attentive and always moving as it was busy. Will be back for the Caesar salad for sure. Great for family with kids
Mermaid Beach
The chicken karaage croissant alone justifies the detour to Mermaid Beach. Bam Bam Bakehouse does all-day brunch with serious pastry credentials, Single O coffee, and a menu that roams from açai bowls to green tea noodles. Bright room, relaxed pace, good baked goods to take away.
The hinterland is not just a couples escape. Wildlife encounters, rock pool swimming, trampoline parks, and family-friendly dining make it one of the Gold Coast's best days out for kids of any age. Here is how to plan it properly, in the right order, without spending the day in the car.
