The chicken parmi arrives with chips enough to feed a table of four, which tells you everything about the philosophy here. Currumbin RSL sits on the creek at Duringan Street, and The Deck is the reason locals keep coming back, particularly for private celebrations and Friday nights when the place hums. Alleys Restaurant handles the sit-down dining, there's a pizzeria for something more casual, and the live music lounge fills out the evenings properly. Staff are a consistent highlight across hundreds of reviews, with specific mentions of bartender Oliver and server Will, which is rare for a venue this size. The coffee is a work in progress. Food is generous, service is sharp, and the waterfront setting does the rest. Book The Deck for groups.
I always order the chicken parmi with a double portion of salad 😄😄 because let’s be honest, I can’t ever see the bottom of the hot chips. They arrive by the truckload and I’m waving the white flag halfway through. Horses for courses, and salad’s my saving grace. Service? Second to none. The staff are an absolute pleasure lovely, polite, and on the ball every single time. They really know how to look after you, no ifs or buts😊 Now… the cappuccino. I only order it once in a blue moon, and there’s a reason. The RSL should bite the bullet and swap out those Thai coffee beans and recalibrate the machine it’s a bit hit and miss, and when it misses, it really misses. All told, food and service are a safe pair of hands. Just give the coffee a tune-up and it’ll be the full box and dice😌😌
Our Family make a point of coming each week for Dinner as we love the whole Vibe, the Food, the Ambience, the Staff. Its very Classy and Comfortable and definitely the Best Little Club in the World ❤️

Burleigh Waters QLD
At $4.80 a plate, Honba's sushi train punches well above its price point. The aburi selection is the draw, particularly the cheese salmon roll and scallop, but the karaage chicken and crispy salmon skins are the sleeper hits. Arrive early. The dinner waitlist is real.

Varsity Lakes
Lake-facing and larger than it looks, Blackboard Varsity runs a tight ship at Varsity Lakes. The halloumi has its devotees, the 5:30am opens have their regulars, and the coffee art is taken seriously. Get in early; the carpark fills fast.

Burleigh Heads has the best food scene on the southern Gold Coast, and it has been quietly earning that reputation for years. From the pastry cabinet at Tarte to cold beers at the Esplanade pub, here is a local's guide to where to eat in Burleigh Heads, broken down by the time of day.
The Gold Coast doesn't have to be expensive. From free swimming holes in Currumbin Valley to pub lunches that won't embarrass you, the southern stretch of the coast is one of Queensland's better-value destinations when you know where to go. Here's how to spend under $100 a day and not feel like you're missing anything.
The humidity breaks in late March and the Gold Coast hinterland becomes a different place entirely. Cooler air, lush post-summer green, and trails that are actually enjoyable. This is the season for longer walks, outdoor lunches that last into the afternoon, and harvest-fresh produce at the farm gate. Here is how to make the most of it, and why you need to book early if Easter is on your radar.
Your outdoor plans got rained out. In the Gold Coast Hinterland, that is not a problem. Waterfalls swell, mist rolls through the canopy, and the roads empty. Here is a flexible menu of what to do instead: day spas, salt caves, wildlife parks, valley cafés, and the pubs that earn their wet-weather crowds.
Went there for a lovely dinner with my mum on a Friday night. It was very busy, which shows how popular the place is, but the service was still quick and friendly. The food was really yummy and we both left feeling full.
I organised a celebration of life afternoon tea for my mother who passed recently. Saskia was incredibly helpful and nothing was too hard to organise. The afternoon tea was in the lounge area overlooking the river and was beautifully set up with an extra table for flowers and mums photo. Saskia also organised a tv and lap top so we could have a usb full of photos scrolling through. We arrived early after the funeral and enjoyed pizzas with the immediate family for lunch followed by a delicious and extremely generous afternoon tea with friends and family. We enjoyed scones with jam and cream, a huge fruit platter, chicken sandwiches and ham and cheese croissants with tea and coffee. Levi from the bar organised the bar tab and was very understanding of our groups needs. Saskia and Levi’s help was above and beyond and made an emotional occasion seem effortless with no stress for me. Thank you so much to both of you and all staff who assisted us. I couldn’t have asked for anymore and everything was perfect.
My sister visited from Newcastle with her husband, it was Labor Day and a lot of venues were closed I booked a table and as my partner an I had eaten there many times I knew parking was not a problem with the overflow across the road for at least 200 cars, we dined inside in the serviced restaurant and had an extremely satisfying meal combined with attentive service staff with excellent knowledge and friendly banter, this club certainly lives up to its “ the best little club in Australia “ tag, thank you
Currumbin
Window seats overlooking Elephant Rock book out fast at this Currumbin Beach institution. The $35 porterhouse and calamari earn their regulars, the views earn everyone else, and the prices keep whole families coming back week after week.
Twenty minutes from the coast, Currumbin Valley runs dark and quiet along a rainforest-fringed creek that most Gold Coast visitors never find. Rock pools, a café with tortoises in the creek out back, wildlife encounters, and enough walking to justify a long lunch on the way home. Here is how to spend a half-day or full day in one of the Hinterland's most rewarding pockets.
