Kangaroos wander through the sites at dusk. That's the detail people mention first, and it tells you everything about what kind of place this is. Noosa North Shore Beach Campground sits on the Cooloola Coast with direct beach access, spacious grassed sites on Kangaroo Loop, and clean amenities that multiple reviewers go out of their way to praise. The beach out front is unpatrolled and car-free in front of the camp area, which makes it genuinely relaxed for families. Getting here requires a 4WD and a ferry crossing, so factor in the tide before you plan your arrival. The communication from staff is consistently flagged as a highlight: clear pre-arrival info, friendly on-site team. It's not a resort. It's a well-run beachside campground that earns its stars by doing the simple things properly.
We didn’t realize there was a $16 ferry fee to enter and another $16 to leave, so keep that in mind when budgeting your trip. Before arriving at the campsite, we also had to buy supplies from a nearby store where everything was at least $5 more expensive than regular supermarket prices. That said, we had a really peaceful stay. The campsite is close to the beach, the sites are beautiful, and you can have a campfire as long as you bring your own fire pit. We saw lots of birds, reptiles, and kangaroos, especially in the morning. Totally recommended if you want a quiet nature escape.
GREAT CAMPSITE RIGHT BY THE BEACH! We had some wonderful days here. The location is fantastic, situated right next to the beach. While the beach isn’t patrolled and swimming isn’t advised, it is possible. A real highlight was having the kangaroos visit the site during the evening and night—such a cool experience! The facilities in the Kangaroo Loop are a little on the small side I'd say and could be bigger, but everything is in great condition, very clean, and well-maintained. One suggestion for improvement: it would be amazing if the shop offered fresh bread or rolls in the morning. Otherwise, it’s a very good campsite and I’d definitely recommend it!

Coolum Beach
Beachfront caravan and camping beside the Coolum Surf Club, with direct beach access, dog-friendly sites, and walkable cafes. The location earns its premium. Facilities are basic, pricing is not, and minimum stay rules apply across peak periods.

Noosa Heads QLD
A well-located Noosa Heads hostel with a lively pool area, beach volleyball court, and a bar that draws a sociable crowd. The front desk books Fraser Island 4WD trips. Proximity to the beach and Greyhound stop is genuinely useful. Book a smaller dorm if noise is a concern.

Fantastic campsite. We stayed here for two nights, right by the beach, and absolutely loved it. This is by far the most beautiful campsite in terms of location that we’ve stayed at so far, and as the cherry on top, we also got to enjoy the kangaroos wandering around the grounds. If I were to give one piece of feedback, it would be about the amenities; they could use a bit of a refresh or deep clean. But overall, an absolutely fantastic campsite!
Brilliant - our new favourite spot. Spent a week in our van on Kangaroo Loop, so peaceful, few hundred metres from the beach, and clean amenities. Sites were so spacious too, with lots of grass. Beach is wonderful and quiet with no cars allowed in front of the camp area so it felt really safe with little kids. Staff were helpful & friendly. We can’t wait to get back for another stay.
This was the place where we almost had a face to face encounter with a wild kangaroo! We arrived a bit late which was a shame because it seemed like a place worth spending more time at. It’s a very charming spot and definitely somewhere I’d like to visit again. It was quiet but the clear sky, fresh air and the beautiful stars at night made the experience truly special.
Sunshine Beach
Spider the dog, free nachos and sangria nights, and a shuttle to the beach twice a day. Flashpackers runs daily social events that actually work, with clean dorms, AC, and free breakfast. The kind of hostel people extend their stay for.
