The sandbar island is the detail that sticks. At low tide, a shallow strip of sand emerges mid-water at Noosa Spit, and locals wade out to it like it's the most natural thing in the world. This is the calm, dog-friendly counterpoint to the surf crowds at Main Beach proper. The water is clear and shallow, good for kids and dogs in equal measure, and the north-facing aspect makes it the right spot for watching the sun drop behind the headland. Boats and jet skis do cut through, so if total tranquillity is the goal, come early on a weekday. Parking is the genuine challenge here. Arrive before 9am or expect to circle. The sunset walk up the Main Beach Boardwalk and around the corner is worth doing on foot if you can.
It was the only place we managed to get a parking spot. It was a windy day and this spot got all that wind. We traveled down to the main beach which seemed more sheltered it was packed with holiday makers being the school.holidays.
Perfect place to swim with your dog!
A gorgeous place to watch the sunset! Just walk North up the Main Beach Boardwalk, then the path, and around the corner, or a very short drive from town.

Free BBQs, calm canal water, and a shaded playground for the under-10s. Lions Park sits minutes from Hastings Street but feels a world away from it. The small sandy bank makes it the go-to for families wanting a quiet swim without the surf.

Sunshine Beach
Perched above Sunshine Beach with Norfolk pines and open ocean views, Ed Webb Park is the kind of spot locals don't advertise. Sunrise is the move. Bring coffee from somewhere nearby and take your time.

This is a 5 star beach, depending on what you're after. It's shallow, clear, dog friendly, cool little sand bar island and walking distance to Noosa. Lots of boats and jet skis, which can be a bit annoying if you're just after a relaxing swim. Also, if you're not a dog lover, dont go. The worst part is the parking, be there very early or be prepared to drive around for quite a while.
It's a great place to watch the sunset.
Sunshine Beach
Wide, exposed surf beach running north from Access #29 on Seaview Terrace, where dogs go properly off-leash into real ocean waves. The staircase is steep, the parking is tight, and the crowd of regulars is out early. Go before 6:30am to get the sand to yourselves.
