The long staircase down from Seaview Terrace is the price of admission, and most dogs think it's worth it. From Beach Access #29 heading north, the sand opens up into a wide, exposed stretch where dogs run off-leash into proper ocean surf. The community here is easy-going, early-rising, and genuinely dog-obsessed. Lifeguards patrol the adjacent patrolled beach, which adds a layer of reassurance if your dog has ideas about swimming further than intended. No shade, no gentle shallows, and limited parking mean you want to arrive before 6:30am on busy mornings. The open sea can be too rough for smaller or nervous dogs. Worth knowing: when high tide swallows Noosa's dog beach, this is the local fallback.
I stayed at Sunshine Beach for 5 days as a little puppy holiday, and honestly it was amazing. The beach, the ocean, the sand… everything about it just felt relaxing and easy to enjoy. Watching all the dogs running around and playing was a highlight, and it really added to the whole experience. There are also plenty of dog friendly cafés nearby, which made it super convenient and enjoyable to bring the pup along everywhere. The whole area just feels very welcoming if you’ve got a dog. The only downside I’d mention is that parking can be a bit tricky, especially if you’re driving during busier times. But aside from that, it’s a fantastic spot and I’d definitely go back.
Absolutely love the off-leash area at Sunshine Beach (Access #29 and north)! 🐾 The wide sandy stretch is perfect for dogs to run free and splash in the waves. It’s clean, peaceful, and has a friendly community of dog owners.
Wonderful part of the Australian Coastline, Super chilled and Dogs having a great time off the Leash. Patrolled Beach out the front of Sunshine Beach Surf Life Savings Club. Happy and Helpful Lifeguards.

Noosa Heads QLD
Walk to the far end of Main Beach and you hit the groyne, a rocky breakwater that earns its reputation as one of the quieter sunset spots in Noosa. Lifesavers on site, easy access, and a view that the main beach strip cannot match.

Weyba Downs
A flat lakeside loop with a suspension bridge, shallow water across most of the lake, and reliable south-easterly winds that draw kite boarders from across the region. Bring your own everything: no BBQs, no taps, no restrooms. Dogs and kites are the main event.

Must-visit dog beach when you travel in Sunshine Coast. No shady area. Long long stairs looks a bit scary
Good option for high tide when Noosa dog beach isn’t usable. Lots of sand to run on but the open sea may be too rough for some dogs. Quiet when we arrived (early) but starting to get busy when we were leaving (6.30am-ish) Limited parking available.
Noosaville QLD
A riverside park with BBQ facilities, a playground, and calm Noosa River access for swimming and paddleboarding. Dogs welcome on leash. Parking gets tight on weekends, so arrive early or walk in. The kind of local spot that earns its reputation without trying.
