Broken Head · Accommodation

The road into Broken Head Holiday Park tells you everything: banksia scrub, no phone signal, the sound of the ocean before you see it. This is the quieter, less-performed version of the Byron hinterland coast, tucked between Broken Head Nature Reserve and one of the region's least-crowded beaches. The park offers powered and unpowered sites alongside cabin accommodation, sitting within walking distance of the rock pools and surf at Broken Head Beach. It draws a mix of families, surfers, and people who've done the Byron main beach scene enough times to want something slower. No reviews to draw on, but the location does the work. Book well ahead for school holidays and summer weekends. The earlier you arrive in the season, the better your site choice.
We have only used the campground with our camper van and I am happy with the modern amenities and they are kept in good condition by the staff. The location is beautiful, just on the edge of national park and reserve, pretty beach. And close to Byron and Lennox. And their camping prices are very fair for what you get. Other campgrounds could learn something (some Nrma places ask $100 a night and have old amenities)
Great service at reception upon entry. Sign the contract to clean the room before checking out and promised not to sublet the room, lol. The room, Deluxe King Beach Shack, is not a good description. A few issues. First up, the only DELUX thing was the bed was the size of a king, however. It was just two single mattresses stitched together. Not to bad for comfort, but to have a hard seem down the middle, this is not DELUX. The room was not clean. We had to clean it ourselves. On the top of the microwave was dirt and dust, we had to clean the sand out of inside of the only cupboard in the room for clothes and the floor was covered with sand. There was no broom or dust pan and brush provided to sweep the floor. So we always had sand on our feet. We had not been to the beach at all before we arrived or even during our stay, so it was not from our feet. Aircon was good, so 1 star is all we can give. Would not recommend this place based on these issues. (See attached pics) for our 30th anniversary we were very disappointed. A stain on the small couch and damage to the sink cabinet were also disappointing. These would embarrass me, being a business owner myself, would not be something I would leave for a review to expose. The pics provided of the room was of another cabin which was more spacious and deceived us. Not very happy, as we feel the price was just not worth it. The location probably saves this park from bad reviews. Sorry, we are not dazzled by just where it is located.

Byron Bay
Forty-five acres of coastal wetland, freestanding villas pointed at the trees, and private beach access. Elements sits deliberately apart from Byron's centre. The distance from the main strip isn't a drawback; it's the whole idea.

Wategos Beach
The only property sitting directly on Wategos Beach, Raes trades on position and a long-running restaurant reputation. Mediterranean in feel, small in scale, and priced accordingly. If you're going to spend up in Byron, the address alone makes a reasonable argument.

Byron Bay
Byron Bay attracts travellers who care how lightly they tread. But do the places they sleep actually share that value? From certified carbon-neutral rainforest properties to a holiday park at the foot of Cape Byron Lighthouse, here are the eco-friendly stays that earn the label, across every price point.
Where you sleep matters. Byron Bay's best romantic stays range from freestanding wetland villas at Elements of Byron to the Mediterranean stillness of Raes on Wategos, with a few quieter options for couples who find luxury resorts exhausting. Here is the considered shortlist, from genuine splurges to smart budget picks.
The location is unbeatable, just a short stroll to the stunning Broken Head beach and surrounded by peaceful rainforest. Waking up to the sound of the ocean never gets old. Whether you’re walking the tracks, surfing, or simply relaxing by the beach, it’s the perfect getaway.
We stayed 2 nights in a campervan, powered site, $57 a night. A quiet site with helpful staff. The location is amazing, a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Amenities clean and modern and the on site van selling food opens at 7am until 2pm, great fish & chips and burgers!
Amazing spot. Beautiful breezes and shady caravan parks. The showers were better than we have at home. Could see the Byron lighthouse from our campsite.
A laneway address just off Byron's centre puts Drifter within easy reach of the beach without the main-street noise. Pitched at the unhurried end of the market, it sits in a bracket that fills fast. Book ahead.
