Fran's Guinness has its own reputation. Ask any regular at this century-old North Burleigh pub and the pour will come up before the food does. The Miami has been on the Gold Coast Highway since 1925, and the two-storey renovated building sits close enough to the beach that you can cross the road and be on the sand. Order at the bar, grab a table in the beer garden, and keep expectations simple: cold beers, bistro food at prices that feel increasingly rare on the Gold Coast, and a crowd that's here to actually relax. The menu sells out fast on busy nights, so arriving before 6pm is wise. The bar runs a printed drinks list rather than a full cocktail programme. Come for a pint and a parma, not a mixologist.
Went for dinner. It is self order for drinks and food. Bartenders can only make drinks printed on the menu...none of the other standard ones and all "shots" served over ice. However, food was very tasty and good prices. About 7 items were sold out, even though we arrived before 6pm. Would stop there again!
If you ever find yourself wandering toward Miami, follow the quiet pull of a place simply called The Miami, a pub that feels less like a venue and more like a warm exhale. Today, beneath the low hum of conversation and the soft glow of the bar lights, Fran poured myself and two friends the greatest Guinness I’ve ever laid my lips on. There was something almost reverent in the way she did it, steady hands, patient pause, a little smile like she already knew what kind of magic was about to settle in the glass. And when that pint finally reached us… my god. Silky. Cold. A cloud drifting into midnight. The first sip felt like a small, private miracle. It wasn’t just a drink. It was a moment. One of those rare ones where life slows down, your friends lean in, and the world feels soft edged and generous. The Miami has many charms, but Fran is the quiet heartbeat behind them, an artist of the pour, a keeper of good nights, and the reason I’ll be returning far more often than I probably should admit. If you’re looking for a place where a Guinness becomes a story, this is it.

Palm Beach
Pastries made on site daily at Tallebudgera Creek, with Marvell Street coffee and a Biscoff croissant that reviewers can't stop talking about. The chips are genuinely exceptional, the Portuguese tarts go fast, and the salted caramel milkshake is non-negotiable.

Mermaid Beach
The chicken karaage croissant alone justifies the detour to Mermaid Beach. Bam Bam Bakehouse does all-day brunch with serious pastry credentials, Single O coffee, and a menu that roams from açai bowls to green tea noodles. Bright room, relaxed pace, good baked goods to take away.

Great place to catch up with friends and have a lovely lunch or dinner. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The tavern is so close to North Burleigh Beach, just cross the road. Great location. I highly recommend a visit to Miami Tavern 🍺 👌
Fantastic atmosphere to relax and unwind… The food was fresh, consistent and delicious… The staff were attentive and courteous… A venue I’m glad to have found…
The food was delicious and well priced. The beer was cold and served by friendly staff. The views and atmosphere were fantastic. 👍👍👍
Mermaid Beach
Mermaid Plaza's car park runs on an app now, with the first hour free, and it's made this Gold Coast Highway Woolworths Metro a far more practical stop. Central enough for holiday-makers, quick enough for locals on a grocery run.
