The smoker runs from lunch through dinner, and the brisket is the reason most people make the drive up Nerang Murwillumbah Road. Set in the Hinterland above the Gold Coast, The Beechmont Hotel leans hard into its country-pub identity: free live music on weekends, line dancing through the week, and a smokehouse platter big enough to need a takeaway box. The Wednesday rump special draws a midweek crowd, the renovated space handles large groups comfortably, and the vibe is genuinely relaxed. A note on logistics: smoker dishes and bistro meals come out of separate kitchens, so food arrives staggered at the table. For a group of two or four, no issue. For a party of forty, plan accordingly and get the function details confirmed in writing.
Our first dining experience at the Beechmont but definitely won’t be the last. Fantastic location, my husband and I got the smokehouse platter for dinner and had plenty for leftovers. Takeaway boxes are conveniently provided for everyone to use as they wish. Amazing live music, great vibes all round and the casual atmosphere to boot. Heaps of staff on hand to assist and plenty of parking on site. Can’t wait to go back!
Booked for 14 for 1pm. The renovations this place have completed make it easily able to cater heaps of large groups. I noticed several 1 star reviews which is always concerning. But our experience was unreal. Got the brisket and a schnitty with a couple of kids meals. It’s a slight inconvenience to have to order at 2 different locations and the smoker stuff comes out whenever it’s ready, so the meals can be staggered. But I imagine logistically it’s how it’s gotta be done. The schnitzel did have a microwaved feel about it but still was nice, I dunno if they just cook heaps to avoid waits and you just get whichever is ready or not? I notice a heap of people took issue with the staggered food but if you’re unhappy with that considering th type of place this is, you’d probably be a nightmare customer anywhere lol. Service was good everywhere. Drinks prices a bit wild, $20 for an alcoholic ginger beer and a soda water? No one should charge for soda water in my opinion. Need a much bigger kids park, and maybe a fence and gate to seperate it clearer from the roadway and car park. Overall I feel like you’ve gotta give credit to an establishment that probably does 1000 meals a day. Does this place have a few things it could easily improve? 100%. But would I return? 100%.

The Hinkler Drive McDonald's handles a heavy drive-thru load with mixed results. Big Macs and Quarter Pounder meals at the lowest price point in the area. Order through the app, check the bag before you leave, and you'll be fine.

Palm Beach
Pastries made on site daily at Tallebudgera Creek, with Marvell Street coffee and a Biscoff croissant that reviewers can't stop talking about. The chips are genuinely exceptional, the Portuguese tarts go fast, and the salted caramel milkshake is non-negotiable.

Great lunch had by us both on Wednesday. We ordered the Wed special - 250g rump steak with gravy, salad & chips. The steak was char grilled, tender, juicy and cooked to perfection (medium). The chips were crunchy, gravy flavourful & salad was simple but adequate. The staff were friendly & polite. We will definitely be back with our families soon to try the smoke master menu.
Ripper Venue! Great atmosphere! This place has it all going on! Live music on weekends! Plenty of seating indoors/outdoors and adjacent to kids playground. Food was well priced for portion size Weekdays line dancing/boot scoot'n Venue holds space for special occassions and private functions. Go see for yourselves!
Went to the Wednesday night line dancing 🕺🏻 The place was packed, the beers and drinks were flowing. The kitchen was getting slammed all night. There was a $25 steak special🥩 I would recommend getting in early, say 5pm the beat the crowds. It was a great night, definitely coming back again. Huge venue, it would be awesome watching the NRL or any big sporting event.
North Tumbulgum
Australia's first agricultural rum distillery, making cane-to-bottle spirits on volcanic Tweed Valley soil. Stay for the Tasting Trail Tour, order the crocodile bites, and let staff talk you through the coconut rum. The drive from Byron takes 30 minutes and earns its keep.
