The chilli prawn pasta keeps coming up in conversation here, and that tells you something. Tallebudgera Surf Club sits right on the beachfront at Palm Beach, recently renovated to open up the space and let the views do their work. The menu runs to seafood platters and lobster rolls alongside the kind of crowd-pleasing mains that work for a table of eight with three generations at it. Service is a genuine standout, with multiple reviewers flagging staff who go well beyond the minimum. Skip the lobster roll if portion size matters to you; the seafood platter with champagne is the move. Moderate pricing for the location. Book ahead on weekends, dress in a layer (the air conditioning runs cold), and don't stress about parking — there's a free courtesy bus running seven days.
We had a truly wonderful experience at Tallebudgera Surf Club when we visited for lunch yesterday. We had a booking and were greeted and immediately shown to our table. The waitress promptly took our order and we didn't have to wait more than 20 minutes for everything to be delivered. Food was delicious. The only issue we had was with the tiny serving size of the lobster roll which was a very small dinner roll size with a small amount of lobster. All other meals were ample. Our children complained about the temperature in the restaurant and I have to agree it was very cold. We'd definitely go again but bring jackets.
We were in the area and decided to stop in for a late lunch. There was lots of parking out front at the time. We didn't have a reservation and the lady at reception told us the main restaurant was closed but we could still order food from the bar. We grabbed some menus on the way in. You also have to option to scan the QR code at the table to view the menu. We found a table, decided what we wanted and I went up to the bar to place the order and quoted our table number. You can help yourself to the water station at the bar. The food was freshly made and came out within a reasonable time. We enjoyed our food while we took in the view of the beach in front of us.

At $4.80 a plate, Honba's sushi train punches well above its price point. The aburi selection is the draw, particularly the cheese salmon roll and scallop, but the karaage chicken and crispy salmon skins are the sleeper hits. Arrive early. The dinner waitlist is real.

Currumbin
A balcony over Currumbin Creek, a lobster roll worth ordering twice, and a chocolate chip cookie that a professional chef called the best she'd ever eaten. Tarte Beach House takes bookings at the Currumbin location. Use them.

Looks like it had been freshly refurbished, nice enough food though the standard burger was soooooo cheesy, we had a set menu with approx 50 people celebrating a birthday. Staff are nice and friendly! Would recommend for a drink any day!
This Tropical Snapper just did not work as a dish…nothing tropical about it. You should not use whole hazelnuts. The fish was overcooked and dry. If one is paying over $30 for a dish you’d want to make sure it tastes great and is better than cooking fish at home. Too many clubs have the same boring food. The design of the windows with the indoor space was a massive mistake design wise. You look directly at the metal frame and not the ocean. If you can’t change the windows then put high tables in that space and stools so you bypass visually the metal frame. The staff were lovely! But it was quiet.
Service was amazing! Food was also high quality. The views are great (let's not talk about the windows 😂). Parking takes patience at this time of year. We did have champagne and the seafood platter. Very worth a visit.
Advancetown
Free live music, low-and-slow brisket, and line dancing on a Tuesday — The Beechmont Hotel is a proper country pub sitting above the Gold Coast in the Hinterland. The smokehouse platter is the move. Bring the whole crew, grab a spot outdoors, and let the meals come when they come.
