The pirate ship playground at Palm Beach Parklands is the kind of thing kids talk about for weeks. Built to resemble an actual vessel, it has rope bridges, a flying fox, a mega slide, and yes, a plank to walk. But the real draw for locals is Currumbin Creek, where the water is calm enough for toddlers to paddle and wide enough for dogs to sprint off-leash without drama. The creek swimming area is naturally sheltered, which makes it a reliable option when the surf is too rough for little ones. Dune Café sits on site for when you need a coffee to survive the school holidays. Weekends get busy, so arrive early for parking. Weekday mornings are quieter, and the dog crowd tends to be friendliest then.
Great Off leash dog space..nothing but fun times! 💙
I love this place for a good day out with my dog - the Currumbin Creek Waters are a great opportunity for having a swim with him or throwing a ball or the odd stick. Dogs can be off their leash in some areas and it is very rare that there’s any aggression between them. Kids love it too. 👍 I will be very happy once the construction is completed in the new playground area.
What a lovely little beach! It was nice little spot for my son to paddle around in the water. We didn’t explore the park, as my son is still very little and it was overwhelmingly large for him. But for older kids the park looked like a dream! We will definitely be back when he is a little older - or soon, for the beautiful, calm little beach.

Palm Beach
Tallebudgera Creek's sheltered, glassy water makes it the go-to for paddleboarding, sandcastles, and unhurried afternoon swims. Barbecues, a playground, and a café are all on hand. Come early, parking fills fast and the café queue follows shortly after.

Burleigh Heads
A sheltered bay at the base of Burleigh Headland with no current, good shade, and snorkelling around the rocks. Locals have been coming here for decades. Aim for high tide on the northern beach, park in the side streets, and walk the headland loop after your swim.

Great park, good swimming options, reasonably protected water, safe for young kids, great playground, reasonable parking on site and nearby.
Great place for spending time with family! Nice playground and beautiful beach. Lots of car parking space. Very busy on the weekend.
Mudgeeraba
Sixty-two hectares of Mudgeeraba bushland with a fenced dog park, shaded playground, and sheltered BBQ areas wired for electricity. The forest walk is better than it looks on the map, the bird life is genuinely good, and Sunday crowds are rarely a problem.
