Tallebudgera Valley · Wellness & Spa
(103 reviews)
Guests come back years apart and pick up exactly where they left off. The seven-night Detox is the programme most reviewers reference by name, but the Yoga and Ayurveda three-night stay draws its own loyal crowd, with morning and evening Ayurvedic rituals guests carry home into daily life. Set in Tallebudgera Valley, the retreat runs on organic food from a kitchen serious enough that multiple reviewers mention meals specifically, stress-reduction programming, two infinity pools, and enough structured activities to fill days without ever feeling rushed. The philosophy is whole-health immersion, not spa-day pampering. Staff warmth comes up in almost every review. The price point is premium, and the experience is designed accordingly. If you're weighing a weekend versus a week, the reviews consistently suggest the longer stay delivers the deeper reset.
I booked for the optimal wellness 5 day program. Firstly let me say that when I was there about 50% of the guests were repeat visitors, so clearly it works for some people. The good Lovely setting, amazing valley views Some very experienced and knowledgeable presenters Lovely pools, good gym, nice dining room outlook Assigning seats for meals, and rotating these daily, allowing for socialisation with a larger number of guests and avoiding the where do I sit dilemma. The not so good The approach was incredibly authoritarian, which is not an effective way of supporting any change. The "rules" apparently also change depending on when you attend. Accommodation I booked middle range accommodation in one of the grove buildings, which with the special 20% off was around $4300. The room was spacious and had a bath and big day bed on the verandah, which was lovely. However it was part of a cabin/building on stilts, so that you could feel and loudly hear any of the guests moving in their rooms. Earplugs were not terribly helpful, as the whole room shook when they walked. Signature tea was provided and when I asked if I could have a different one (as I don't drink lavender) I was told that was the only tea provided in the rooms. Food Was extremely disappointing, often not nutritionally balanced, with very small servings of vegetables. Everyone at the retreat mentioned the food used to be better. Activities/Talks I found the retreat seriously lacking in activity offerings- Very simplistic Qigong at sunrise, followed by the choice of hard or easy walk or one other activity, breakfast then a choice between a yin (easy) or yan (activity) and that was it for the day, as afternoons were for spa treatments or resting. Daily talk was also very basic, if you are at all aware of wellness there is nothing to gain from attending (eg cafeine affects your sleep). There were also quite a few incidents that made it obvious staff were not aware of how to provide an inclusive and safe space. To me it felt like the retreat had no real direction and very superficial knowledge of wellness, as if it had recently opened and was finding its feet. Definitely not what I would expect from something running some 20+ years. If you are just starting on your wellness journey and need strict direction then maybe you'll get something out of it, but otherwise there are much better wellness retreat offers out there.

Currumbin Waters QLD
The complimentary crèche, the ice baths, the sauna, and staff who know your name. Move Headquarters in Currumbin runs a full recovery zone alongside its gym floor, and the community around it, especially among local parents, is the kind that keeps people coming back for years.

Neranwood
A hinterland spa retreat high above the Gold Coast, where Gerda's team runs full-day packages around a heated infinity pool with serious valley views. The massage is the centrepiece. The mountain air does the rest.

I am just back from a 7 days detox retreat. It's my second ! A real reset... I feel so much more energized physically and mentally. The staff and the atmosphere is just amazing. Without talking about the amazing organic food from top chefs. They have so many diversified activities and treatments on offer, too many to say. And most important... I came back with tools to help myself. Thank you Gwinganna...
I used to be a fan of this place but now I agree with some of the other reviews, it’s in need of a massive update and refurbishment for the amount of money it costs to stay. The food isnt bad but it relies a lot on outdated information on what’s healthy. They are also too rigid with the menu. You’re also almost forced to sit with a bunch of people you don’t know and make small talk when I’m sure some people just want to sit on their own in peace. They are just recycling a lot of old news from the holistic health space. I stayed in one of the more expensive villas and the track I used to get to the room with the buggy was full of rocks and stones that stuck out making it very uneven, something that could be easily fixed if they maintained the property more. Overall, I am disappointed in what this retreat has become, as a previous visitor staying a few times. It was amazing over a decade ago, now it’s just outdated and boring, as they have just recycled the same things over the years. Highly consider improving.
This is what hell looks like! Do yourself a favour and buy the man shake and go for a massage at your local Thai massage shop and save a shed load of money and keep your sanity intact. This place is old, tired and desperately in need of a massive overhaul. It’s buildings and philosophy are all way out of date. Don’t believe the hype!
Was not expecting how magnificent the location and beneficial the program was for me. The experience was both relaxing and invigorating. Inspiring lessons learnt. Special mention to Duncan and Lucy who were outstanding in their performance and care.
Broadbeach Waters QLD
Consistent laser results on face and neck, with a team that explains every step before starting. Jacinta is a regular favourite. Busy clinic inside Pacific Fair, so book ahead and know the cancellation policy before you commit to a package.
