Kirra Beach Tourist Park
Coolangatta · Accommodation
(838 reviews)
The paperbark trees are the first thing you notice, their pale trunks threading through grassy sites that back up against a lagoon. This is a Gold Coast council-run park, which means consistent upkeep, genuinely friendly staff who'll slip your dog a treat at reception, and facilities that don't disappoint. Food vans roll in several nights a week, the pool is clean and popular, and the dog wash station with complimentary tokens is a small but appreciated touch for travelling pet owners. Be clear-eyed about the location: the beach requires crossing a couple of main roads and a decent walk, so 'Kirra Beach' is more aspiration than address. The lagoon adjacent to some sites carries a smell in warmer months. Book a site away from it, bring the dog, and settle in for longer than a weekend.

What People Say
We had the most wonderful three weeks at Kirra Beach Tourist Park. Such a beautiful park to stroll around with the gorgeous paperbark trees and lovely plants and gardens. Fabulous dog friendly site. Wonderful staff. Excellent and well maintained facilities. Great food vans on site various nights of the week which we thoroughly enjoyed. Beautiful pool. Dog wash facilities and treats for our black lab Duke whenever we visited reception. Thanks sincerely Natasha, Dean and all your staff who made our stay so memorable. We will be back and we will recommend your park highly to fellow travellers on our adventures around Australia 😊
Claims to be close to beach but it’s a good walk across a main road. The beach is a very long walk on the sand then finally water. Pool at park is great though. No beaches close by are dog friendly. All signs are very clear, no dogs allowed. Sites are ok but ours had a strange odour. Shops and cafes are a very limited med selection and some distance away! The park does offer some food vans on certain days which is nice. Make sure for you dog owners you use your free token for the dog wash. We spent 10 days at the park so got to know it pretty well.
We had a wonderful stay in our caravan at Kirra Beach Tourist Park. The staff are so friendly, always say hi and happy to have a chat. The grounds are immaculate with clean facilities and nice grassy sites. Will definitely stay there again
The best caravan on the Gold Coast staff are so friendly in the office and advise you everything housekeeping and maintenance always give me a wave and a smile and happy to assist. If you have any queries. The sites are lovely big and clean and dog friendly 10 out of 10 from us. Tracey & David Guest
We stayed here for 2 nights in a cabin with our 3 children whilst friends of ours were on a powered caravan site with their children. Our cabin was good, clean, plenty of towels, big fridge, cold AC. The beach is stunning!!! But too far to walk to with young kids. "Beach" being in the title of their name reads a little slippery. You have a couple of main busy roads to get through to the beach also. The "lake" (swamp) next to the cabins smells like a sewer. We were phoned on our 1.5hr drive there on Friday 20th Feb at approx 330pm (post work, fighting traffic with 3 kids under 9 picked up directly from school so we could arrive in a timely manner) by reception demanding immediate credit card payment of the 50% balance owing prior to arrival. Supposidly payment was required by 4pm or we wouldn't be able to check in. We were due to arrive by 430pm. We were actually hoping we could pay in cash when we arrived but this was scoffed at. Cue stress level rise! I did pay online with CC, however her demanding, unfriendly cold call did not leave a good initial impression of Kirra Beach Tourist Park. Turns out reception closing time was 5pm so not sure what all the fuss was about! Why does reception close at 5pm in summer on a Friday? Why are other holiday parks in GC/Qld reception closing at 6pm or later? Why are your staff phoning patrons, causing stress about prior arrival payments and lying about closing times? Why does your pool close at 6pm in summer? A quick search shows that many other places pools close at 8-9pm. We were promptly and urgently told to leave the pool at 6pm by a staff member on the Saturday. It was still blisteringly hot and the children were confused as to why they had to leave when the sun was still up. On check out day Sunday I received a text at 9am advising as a "friendly reminder" that late check out after 10am can result in late fees being charged. Well thank you for the lovely hospitality and treating patrons as human adults Kirra "Beach" Tourist Park (not). I have travelled extensively during my life and stayed at dozens of hotels/motels/campgrounds and never have I ever received a text message threat of being charged for leaving late when I wasn't planning on leaving late. We were out of there by 0945am and were glad to not see any staff on the way out. RESPONSE TO KIRRA "BEACH" TOURIST PARK; I think anyone reading your response can gauge that I am not overreacting to the ick attitude factor of the people running this park. No google did not adjust my 1 star rating due to being inappropriate, I changed it to a 2 as I felt a little sorry for you and was impressed with your efforts to influence my chosen score. I also see you have not answered my questions about slack early reception and pool closing hours. Hopefully your management can adjust and improve its petty snooty culture for your interpersonal challenges moving forward.
