The pub that's been here longer than most of the town's cafés, bars, and boutiques combined. The Railway Friendly Bar sits on Jonson Street with the quiet confidence of a place that doesn't need to reinvent itself. Expect cold beers, a crowd that mixes locals with travellers without making a fuss about it, and prices that won't send you into sticker shock. The vibe is unpretentious in the way only a proper pub can pull off: no cocktail list theatrics, no mood lighting, just a bar doing what a bar should do. Midweek it's relaxed enough to hold a conversation. Weekends it fills up. If you're after somewhere to start the night without committing to a scene, this is a reasonable place to land.

What People Say
We went on Friday night and it was epic! They had the best band playing oldie goldie’s and lots of people were up dancing. We ate the beef ragu linguine and the stuffed mushrooms which were both way better than i expected! A little oily, but absolutely delicious
We grabbed a drink before heading off to dinner. It was a great place to stop, chill and listen to live music.
We love this place. Typical pub food, service pretty good. Always good music.
After work, I was seated outside the club enjoying live music with a beer. I liked the music, so walked into the open place. I was completely new to the place and didn’t know that outside beer isn’t allowed. A server lady came and snatched the bottle which was extremely arrogant and out of my experience. She was rude with zero sense of behaviour with a customer. She could be polite but instead she chose to be aggressive which was not expected. Thanks for the experience.
Disgusting and completely unacceptable treatment. From the moment we entered this pub, we were subjected to an appalling experience. The way we were treated particularly as Jews was discriminatory and dehumanising. A woman who claimed to be the manager became aggressive without provocation, physically grabbing my husband and forcibly ejecting us from the venue. She was violent, hostile, and verbally abusive. She screamed at us in front of other patrons, demanded our drinks, and repeatedly accused us of “breaking the law” while refusing to explain what we had supposedly done wrong. We calmly and respectfully asked for an explanation, as we were genuinely confused and simply wanted to resolve the situation peacefully. Instead, we were met with further aggression and humiliation. This experience was genuinely traumatic. No one deserves to be treated this way. If you value basic human decency and respect, do not step foot in this establishment. Utterly disgraceful. I recorded everything on film.
