The day starts at 5am here, and that's not a warning, it's the point. Set in a valley outside Eungella, backed by mountains and lush farmland, Krishna Village runs on a full schedule of yoga classes, breathwork, sound healing, and kirtan that carries guests from dawn to dusk. The vegetarian meals are organic and repeatedly praised, the Brahman cows on the property are genuinely worth meeting, and the community that forms around the temple and yoga hall tends to outlast the stay. Accommodation ranges from simple guest rooms to camping, all clean if modest. The vibe is the thing: multiple reviewers mention returning year after year, bringing friends, bumping into people made here as far away as Barcelona. Book a karma yoga week if you want the full picture.
The moment I entered Krishna Village, I had a real wow feeling. It is an amazing place surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, creating a very peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. The yoga classes were wonderful, and the entire day was well structured, keeping us engaged from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm with various classes and activities. It was a truly enriching experience for both mind and body. The room was very clean and well maintained. However, we did notice a few large cockroaches in the room, which scared me and my kids a bit. Apart from this, everything else was well organised and enjoyable. Overall, it is a beautiful and spiritually uplifting place, and we really appreciated the experience.
I have been going with my family to the Hare Krishna retreat centre, several times a year, for the past 3 years. I have nothing but great things to say about it. We always feel welcome and part of the community, even though we are not Krishna devotees, although we have full respect and honour their spirituality. I love being served beautiful vegetarian meals, three times a day. My children always find something they like and never complain about being hungry. I love that I am able to do yoga while I am there. The property is beautiful and so peaceful with the cows they so well look after. I can so recommend this place for anyone who feels like a break from their lives, to get nourished and let the nervous system relax. Looking forward to our next trip back to the HK farm ❤️

Tweed Heads South
A waterpark, a tidal billabong with kayaks, go-karts, food trucks, and live music on the camp kitchen deck. The Duranbah cabins sleep families in genuine comfort. Positioned between the Gold Coast and Kingscliff, this is the holiday park that makes the school holiday argument easy.

Seventy minutes from Brisbane and several degrees cooler, Binna Burra Lodge sits above World Heritage rainforest in the Gold Coast Hinterland. The Sky Lodge balcony views stop people mid-sentence. The cafe beef burger is reason enough to ride out on a Thursday.

The temperature drops somewhere around the Nerang turnoff and the Gold Coast you know disappears in the rear-view mirror. This is how to spend a proper 48 hours in the hinterland: a rainforest lodge, Springbrook's waterfalls, glow-worms at dusk, good food on both sides of the mountain, and a Sunday drive home you will not regret.
The hinterland is where the Gold Coast actually breathes. Cool mornings, ancient rainforest, country pubs, and lodges where lorikeets show up at breakfast uninvited. From Binna Burra's sky-high balcony views to O'Reilly's century-old retreat above Canungra, here is where to stay across every corner of the Gold Coast Hinterland.
Behind the Gold Coast high-rises, the Scenic Rim shelters Gondwana rainforest, wildlife corridors, and some of the most ecologically significant land in south-east Queensland. These are the hinterland stays that take that seriously, from Binna Burra Lodge above World Heritage forest to a working spiritual community where the food comes from the land you sleep on.
My experience at Krishna Village was truly incredible and very memorable. I especially loved the sound healing, the breathwork sessions, the yoga classes, the sense of community, the kirtan and the delicious food 🧡 It really fulfilled what I was looking for, a mix of vacation and volunteering. I did one week of karma yoga. Everything was so, so good! And I love the cows 🐄✨ Hare Krishna!!!!
I recently visited Krishna Village near the Gold Coast with my wife. The location itself is quite scenic—set in a valley and somewhat hidden from the outside world. However, it is close to a river that is visibly dirty, and I would strongly advise against bathing in it. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to the expectations one would have from a so-called spiritual retreat. The attitude of the receptionist was particularly disappointing. She was disengaged, avoided eye contact, and continued chatting and laughing on the phone while visitors waited. It felt like a mundane job to her rather than a place meant to welcome people with warmth or mindfulness. The property in general appears poorly maintained. Pathways are unclean, and the common areas are shabby, cluttered, and seemingly neglected for a long time. The reading area was especially disheartening—books were littered around disrespectfully. The sitting and relaxation areas were overcrowded and chaotic, with barely any proper seating available. Some visitors appeared to treat the space like a public sleeping area, which further added to the disorder. On a positive note, the food is organic and vegetarian and is not bad. That said, it felt somewhat synthetic in preparation, and exceptional taste should not be expected. Overall, aside from the natural surroundings, most facilities at this resort felt rundown and disorganised. You may want to visit once to see it for yourself, but be prepared to discover many shortcomings beyond what I’ve described.
I stayed here for a month as a volunteer 6 years ago to learn more about a more spiritual/the yogic way of life & such. Everyone was very friendly & helpful guests as well as the Hare Krishnas/yoga teachers themselves. I learnt heaps about kirtan/Hare Krishnas/yoga much of which I still use in my day to day life today - constantly saying the mantras I learned to myself/in my head when I am stressed or anxious. I have since found a Kirtan group local to where I live which I will go to often. I also live a much more balanced life than before I stayed here - not so much excess, more peace & within my means & such. Truly a life changing experience, words can't describe..my life certainly changed for the better after volunteering here. Thanks everyone again!
Coolangatta
A council-run park with paperbark-shaded sites, reliably clean facilities, and staff who know your dog's name by day two. Food vans on-site most nights keep dinner easy. The beach is further than the name suggests, but for a longer Gold Coast stay with a caravan or cabin, it holds up.
